We had been in the process of buying another property but had dreadful survey. Vendors were lovely when we viewed but then got difficult once the surveys started to happen (we were the first serious offer they had had in almost 2 years). Told us the house was "sold as seen" when £1000s of remedial work was identified. Then started to say that although they were committed to leaving the curtains they would be taking the matching tiebacks + curtain poles. We walked away in the end as we thought the survey was likely to be the tip of the iceberg.
We are now close to completing the sale of another property and our vendor couldn't be more different. Everything has been a breeze. Work needs doing on this house too but the vendor has been great in sending us information about local tradespeople, getting a quote done on something for us on the spur of the moment because the neighbours had someone in that day doing a quote for a similar thing, and generally being very helpful.
I've also had email asking if we'd like them to loan us kettle/mugs so that we don't have the hassle of making sure they are easily accessible on arrival. Plus asking what we would like in the fridge when we arrive milk/bread etc. Amazingly kind.
The house has had her elderly dad living in it but they are selling his house and theirs so that they can have one big house together. My belief in karma has been borne out by the fact that their other house sale went through really quickly and above the asking price so they are all set for their new life together. We are so happy for them, it couldn't happen to nicer people.
Anybody else got vendors going the extra mile for them?
