Price up or find French door shutters for me, pretty please!

I would like to get some folding solid wood shutters to fit inside the French window doors in our back room, to make something roughly like this (but painted white).

Anyone have any idea what would be a decent price to expect to pay for these, please? We've only had one quote, from these people, which came in at £1100 and was a bit of a shock. Is there anyone else out there in London whom we should ask for a quote?

probably about right for slatted. thought solid would be cheaper. there could try hilarys or california but i have heard quality is poor. perhaps a local carpenter?

you should check out architectural salvage places they are always full of shutters and then get a joiner to fit them.

I havent used these people but have talked to them on the phone and they were very helpful and preofessional and the shutters look good from what I can tell...

Thanks all!
Looks like the California place only does louvred shutters anyway.
Bloke is round at the moment measuring for exact price. Took one look at the old shutter boxes (which are still in place) and sucked air through teeth, informed us that no one makes shutters that'll fit into alcoves like those, as the two panels have to be different widths to fold neatly, and is now engaged in long discussion with dh. Bollocks.

What're the chances of finding exactly the right dimension folding shutters on salvo web, then, eh?

Sorry didnt read your OP properly.
WHy not try local joiners? This is something they could do quite easily (ignore the teeth sucking if you can)...

BariatricObama · 30/03/2010 11:08

you could chop salvo ones

MortaIWombat · 30/03/2010 11:24

True. Nothing right width in salvo at the moment.
Anyone recommend a joiner in SE London?! Arranged 3 quotes for shelving recently, and only one even turned up. Must be able to take their pick of jobs at the moment...
