I am always surprised at how dark and dingy so many living rooms appear- especially ours! It's got a single bulb in the middle of an ocean of artex... nowhere near enough to adequately light a 5m x 3.5m room!
We are thinking about 4 uplighters around the room, plus a couple of standard lamps, perhaps, over the sofa..
OR do we do two ceiling lights?
I appreciate the 1st option will involve plasterers etc, and expense, but I am surprised that here, unlike in Oz, there isn't a bloke at your 'local lighting shop' who comes out to tell you your options then won't charge you if you then buy your lights from him!
