Noise on glass roofs

We are just about to embark on an extension to our kitchen and had originally planned to have a flat rooflight installed. The builder has come back and said that a flat rooflight would be quite noisy and we would be better off with a roof lantern (angular glass). Does anyone have any experience of either of these please ??

I don't but......We have had an extension built with sloping roof with 2 really large skylights and yes, when it rains hard, it's very noisy an we can hardly hear the tv!

Saying that, I wouldn't change it. I love the ceiling/skylights.

cant see why any type of glass roof would be different. fwiw i loved the noise, oddly comforting/cosy. we had flat rooflights in our large house and i loved them, you see the sky very clearly, like its floating above you, in a way that i dont think you do with a sloping roof. they are actually quite a bit more expensive, perhaps this is why he is suggesting it?

The "flat" rooflight is around twice the price of the roof lantern thingy ! Maybe he's thinking rain on more sloping glass will not be as noisy as rain in the flatter glass ? Tbh I don'tthink its much of an issue for us if it is noisier; we would rather have the discreet rooflight than the lantern.
