Bright red floor in otherwise neutral kitchen. Yay or nay?

I'm thinking it's a bit too neutral and would like to add a bold splash of colour. I'm thinking ruby red quartz tiles would look great but don't know if it would be too much.
The cabinets are oak, appliances stainless steel, walls white and tiles stone/white.

i think it would be cool!

I'd like it.

Suppose it kind of depends if you are planning on living there a while.

We have orange marmoleum, off-white walls and kitchen units and oak worktops and tables. Looks fab.

Yes, planning on living here for a long time. I think I'd regret it if we went neutral with the floor.

Sounds brilliant.

I think I'll do it. I'm bored with neutral.

Sounds fantastic to me, it will definitely wake you up in the morning. Be sure to post some picture on here when you have it done as I'd love to see the finished product. Good luck. Liz

Sounds great-neutral is v noughties and dull

LemonDifficult · 19/03/2010 20:42

Oh yes, that sounds cool. Please post pics if you do!

Could you paint the walls instead? Easier to change if you get bored of the colour.

ItNeverRainsBut · 19/03/2010 21:54

I think it sounds lovely, go for it. I get very bored by too-neutral rooms. Please post pics too.

Um. Red ?

Like 'won't show up the blood' red?

Practical if you're planning on setting up as a domestic butcher, i guess.

(Actually, it'll probably look nice. If you tuck the drainage hole out of view).

Am in lust with some red worktops that have have shiny quartz in them.

Floor sounds fab.
