Just some ideas please! Was thinking cream, then something with a hint of 'mushroom' but really I don't know!

Have laminate flooring, deep navy curtains on the patio windows and deep navy leather sofas. The furniture is Mexican pine.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

I'm quite conservative and would also think cream - Dulux barley white or Crown Old English White have always come out well for me

If you're feeling more adventurous you could do 3 walls cream and have one feature wall. In our lounge the chiney breast is bottle green which looks nice (well i think so!)

I'm doing my sitting room in grey. Actually farrow and ball 'blackened' which is lovely and soft and looks great against the white bit above the rail and woodwork.

Also having a pink floorlamp from habitat.

At the moment it is Pillar box red with cream walls in recess either side of the chimney breast! Really want something a bit 'tamer' now!

Do you have a period property or a more modern house? I think you can get away with white rather than cream in a modern house maybe more.

We have a modern place we've just revamped and have lots of navy and white soft furnishings. We have dark grey sofas and most walls are white ( Dulux White Cotton ) and one wall grey ( Dulux Mineral Haze ). We have also zinged it up a bit with some flashes of bright blue. Would have loved bright pink but DH put his foot down.

We have a more modern house.

I am thinking of papering just the chimney breast in something bold! Something with navy in...

We have Farrow and Ball Clunch and it looks and feels really lovely.

I think you're right to go for a mushroomy colour. I really like this one here as not too sludgy but kind of sophisticated and toned down but with proper pigment.

Navy is actually quite tough to match things with as it is so strong.
