rubber flooring

thinking of rubber flooring in bathroom and /or kitchen. anyone got this? can you have underfloor heating? how does it look?

I work for a rubber flooring company and rubber flooring is perfectly suited for use with under-floor heating. The warmth from the heating system will transfer through to the rubber and as a result it will be very warm underfoot. Much moreso than say ceramic tiles or laminate flooring.

Thanks for that TRFC. Do you know is the textured stuff difficult to clean. looks like dirt would get stuck around the bumps

I'm considering rubber flooring too.

I have a light coloured flat rubber flooring. I have it as I have a ds with ASD and I wanted a quality covering that could cope with the odd flood!

Only critism is that it has not been as easy as I expected to keep clean. You are provided with a coating product that gives it a gloss. After a while it dulls and goes patchy and mine looks dirty. You then have to strip coating back and re-coat.

My flooring does take a battering but im not convinced that the rubber in the clokroom and bathroom is any better than the quality lino type product in the en-suite.

we have marmoleum (as i have jsut told lyra on another thread) and it is fab, though we hammer it and it is showing a bit of wear where the high chairs are after 3 1/2 years.

there was textured dalsouple in the same space when we moved in. in theory it was lovely but in reality it was rank - got really filthy and very difficult to clean without actually scrubbing the floor with a scrubbing brush.

I'm sure I read somewhere (possibly on mn) that standing water will stain rubber flooring.

We have flooring from the Rubber Flooring Company in both our bathrooms. I personally wouldn't bother with underfloor heating as we find that the rubber is warm enough underfoot.

I find it very easy to keep it looking clean, as we went for slate effect rubber tiles in charcoal. We bought the special coating / sealant stuff but I never got round to putting it on, as it seems fine without it.

One issue we had was that our plumber wasn't happy to fit rubber as he had never done it before. Also as it is tiles rather than a continuous sheet, the joins between the tiles are a bit more noticeable than I'd like, in places. (Maybe the sealant would sort that out?)

Apart from that we are really happy with our flooring - it looks good and is really low maintenance.

In terms of cleaning all of our products are very simple to maintain. As previously mentioned by tibni we supply a cleaning product called the "Complete Floor Care Kit" and we do recommend the use of this kit every 12 months. Tibni mentioned that the flooring goes "patchy" after a while, generally this would only happen if when applying the protecive layer, you apply too much solution to the applicator pad. The maintainer that comes within the kit is what you would use daily/weekly etc. or however often you feel the need to clean your flooring.

not much info on your website. Actually just been to see some samples and I'm not sure i like it. some gorgeous colours though.man in shop says it scratches so not sure suitable

Can anyone tell us - do rubber floors attract the dust and dirt more?

Do you have to clean them more than tiled floors, for example?

Trying to decide for our kitchen.
