Hi all,
We've finally exchanged on a house which we've been trying to buy for about 5 months! It needs shedloads of work but will be great.
However, I'm very confused by heating quotes and hope Mumsnet can give us some advice from people who have different types:
- we want to extend into the loft and will have a 4 bed hosue with 2 bathrooms if this happens (1 bath, 2 showers).
- been given quotes for an unvented system (v expensive and needs to join to the main which Thames Water have just informed us could take 2 - 3 months)....and combis of various sizes.
- question is whether a combi (large - 42 CDI) would be enough or whether we should go for the extra costs of an unvented system so we can have the washing machine on and have a shower etc.
- alternatively, we could keep a traditional gravity based system I suppose with a cold water tank in th eloft as the loft is quite big.
Any advice from people with these heating systems or people who know about them would be very gratefully received!
