Look on yell for oil suppliers and ring around.
I find that boilerjuice is always more expensive than ringing and getting quotes - and then you can ask for quicker delivery too.

Are you sure there isn't any oil left in the tank?

I use FC Dawes (tel 01462 711210) in North Herts - don't know if they cover East Herts but worth a call?
Usually deliver within 2-3 working days.

Stevenage Oil Co - can't find the no, but you could google. People I know swear by them but I find delivery a bit slow.

Hopefully someone in East Herts can advise.

As a rough guide to price we've just paid £420 for 1000 litres.

If the tank is empty be aware that you might struggle to start the boiler once the tank has been filled.

Do you have any friends nearby who could siphon some oil for you just to keep you going for a few days?

Phoenix4725 · 26/02/2010 13:23

Just for future info, I use AD Fuel Oils (01279 813 100). They are really good and if I have run out they will put me near the front of the queue!

There is a Total Butler (08457 240 241) nearby as well (but I find they take a bit longer to deliver even though I am only 1/2 mile away).

Try not to let the tank run completely empty as you will have to have it bled before you can use it again or it causes damage to the system.

GrendelsMum · 26/02/2010 13:43

Phone and beg! I've done that in the past for an emergency and have had oil the next day. (Probably only works with a small local company, but always worth a try!)

Phoenix4725 · 26/02/2010 13:46

hm there is some oil in tank i dipped and found but not a lot , will i need get it bled still?

OP posts:
nowwearefour · 26/02/2010 13:50

you prob wont need to get it bled as long as you dont put on boiler until lots more in there - only needs bleeding if it is still running when there is no oil left or the dregs right at the very bottom. ask the delievery guy htey are normally v v helpful. i'd have thougth monday quite close in terms of organising a delivery to be honest. when allthe snow was in we had to wait 6 weeks for total butler. it got a little scary....

sb6699 · 26/02/2010 13:58

NWWAF - if you were using the TB near me, the problem was that their depot is up a hilly country lane which was covered with ice and snow and was impossible to pass in any vehicle. They basically couldnt operate properly for about 3 weeks so they must have got backed up with orders.

I normally end up phoning at the last minute so I would have ended up freezing! (makes mental note to check oil levels asap).

Phoenix4725 · 26/02/2010 14:09
