Has anyone moved their fuse box / consumer unit and if so how much did it cost?

We may need to move ours a few metres when our extension is built, if we decide to knock down the wall it's currently on. Just wondering approx how much it would be to move it and is it a huge piece of work?

Thanks

Moved ours a few metres about 12 years ago - was ridiculously expensive, got the power company to do it, several hundred pounds iirc (lots of pointless surveys by electricity board first etc to rachet price up). Since heard that some electricians are qualified to do it and charge much less.

Wasn't huge job at all - took about two hours .

Our elecrtrician is going to move ours when we re-do our kitchen.
He did say it would be perhaps a couple of hundred pounds, perhaps a bit more, but the electrics are a bit complicated as the supply feeds from the basement, so not a typical situation.
Get a few quotes from local people and see what they say.
