South Norwood

Does anyone know anything about South Norwood? It seems strangely inexpensive given that it has such good transport, nice Victorian houses and a big country park.

Is there a huge catch that I don't know about?

No, it's nice. It is more multicultural and less boutique-y than "naice" (and expensive) nearby areas like Dulwich/Blackheath/Clapham, etc, so it's cheaper. I don't think it's got great schools, though. But I live nearby, and friends live there, and really like it. Strike out! Bet you'll be sitting on a good investment in 5-10 years. We did this in Forest Hill, which is similarly non-trendy, but really nice: bought in 2002 and sold for double what we paid this January (so in the recession). There are still bargains to be had in London, if you're not dead set on the WASP/yummy mummy/nappy valley experience.....

Thanks Awesome. No WASP/yummy mummy aspirations, but keen on reasonable schools.

We're in Tooting at the moment. Happy here but can't afford to buy. 3 beds at least £100k more expensive here - not quite sure why such a huge difference.
