What paint do I get?

I am just about to start painting my house for the 90000th time. It just doesn't seem as if the paintwork is ever clean. I'm going to start at the top and work downwards and am considering doing the whole thing one colour - cream.

Is this really boring? The 3 dc's all have kiddy coloured bedrooms at the minute, but I thought it might be easier to maintain if they were all one colour so I can patch up.

What I am really after is some advice regarding wipeable paint. Is it worth spending the extra coulpe of quid? Does it work and if so which make is best?

Cheers

Hi

I have just posted a similar topic asking for advice on paint colour. I'll be interest in your answers as well, as I have a toddler and already have marks on newly painted walls...

Not sure about wipable paint but always find Dulux the best paint and worth spending extra for, i wipe the normal emulsion clean with no problem

i love Dulux brilliant White we bought the trade stuff from b and q it was a little bit more expensive but worth it i think if you want it to be wipeable satin is the best

Looks like Dulux then, I have always had own make before. Perhaps that is why it doesn't scrub up so well. In the past I have shyed away from satin as our house is a 200 year old cottage with walls and plaster work to match! I might get a tester and have a try.
Thanks

for old walls you can't beat farrow and ball, it is more expensive from dulux but much better quality, their modern emulsion is washable but also allows the walls to breathe (don't get the estate emlusion it is lovely but not washable - I've had to redo my walls with the modern emlusion as had a similar problem to you!)

oh, never thought of Farrow & Ball. Will have a look today.
Thanks
