what sink? i am finding myself unable to make simple decisions:0(

having decided on black granite worktops i am worried i may have made an error with the sink ive ordered.

i ordered a composite black overmounted sink as i was originally gonna get laminate worktops.

all the pics of sinks i keep seeing with granite are the undermount type ones and are all stainless steel - they look great.

im also now wondering about the practicalities of a black sink....

ive just got to the point where i can no longer think about making a decision and my head hurts. i cant ever ever afford to do this kitchen again so its got to be right this time...

what do you think? ive got the black sink and im not even sure if i CAN return it....

Mmmm, not loving the black sink and think the fact that it's the same colour but a different material to the granite is going to look wrong. Think you need a contrast, rather than worktop and sink that look a little bit alike

The black sink is lovely, i'd stick with that one. Everyone has a stainless steel one. I would should mine back under trade description error.....its not stainless!!!

i wonder if theyll let me return the black one and swap it for a couple of stainless steel undermounts....oh buggeration why do i always do this?????

either that or a totally black one thats a bit speckly....

I think undermounted sinks look best with granite - I like the smooth lines it gives. I have this one and can highly recommend it. We have a waste disposal unit fitted in the small part and it comes with chopping boards, bowls etc that all fit into it.

i think if id have thought to get granite first id have gone for undermounts...i am just praying that the company i got this from on the net will let me swap it.

also wondering how much more the polishing will cost for the cut out.

i think im gonna try and hide the sink (thats taking up my dining table!) and forget about it for tonight...then come at it with a fresh head in the morning.

and beg the sink company to let me swap

i HATE that im impetuous AND indecisive...i could live with one or the other! but not both. i should have learnt by now really never ever to buy anything until ive lived through a cooling down period first.

can anyone else cast their eye over this for me...

Deffo ditch the black sink. It doesn't work with the granit. I love it that you're impetuous and indecisive. You'll be able to drive yourself demented with that forever and ever.

Do NOT, I repeat, not, get black sink! Work of devil them are. We have moderately hard water and I have given up trying the get the damned thing look even semi clean - limescale is horrid and looks absolutely disgusting on black.

oh thank you thank you thank you! i was so totally undecided but i just dont think the black sink will look right at all and most of you have confirmed it.

ive emailed the company asking if i can swap it for stainless steel undermounted ones.

not heard back from them as yet but ill ring them tomorrow if ive not had a reply.

only trouble is its gonna cost me more for the polish round the sinks - about £100 + vat per cutout but i just knew id regret the black one. with matt laminate worktop it would have looked nice but with shiny worktop i think it would look odd. DH was useless! just kept saying " oh itll be fine" which i knew it wouldnt.

so am off to track down undermounted ones.

OK having switched at the last mo from a 1.5 sink to a single large one, it was a very very good decision. If you ever need to handwash large sweaters, clean out a hamster cage or clean a big baking tray/roasting tin, a single large sink is really lovely.

Only if you use a washing up bowl of course. I know people who don't use them think they are vile.

id love to get a large sink but the problem is that i only have a 500mm base unit in which to fit it. so i think its gonna have to be 2 small sinks, (which is what i have now.) if i wash up in one i use the other to drain but i have a dishwasher for the bulk of the washing up. saying that i can never fit the baking trays or grill pan in the sink, but am limited with stupid small spaces.
