My husband did ours (built it) - kitchen extension in Victorian house with glass ceiling. He is a carpenter. We were supposed to have a builder but he let us down at the last minute so DH did it. He got someone to help with the plumbing though and an electrician to do the wiring and a glass company supplied and fitted the glass roof.
All worked fine.
We had to get planning permission (conservation area).
