When do you start packing for a move?!

We are, I hope, moving house. Of course things could fall through at any point, but I hope not of course. When is it realistic to start packing do you think? At what point can I be reasonably sure it will all happen?! And how long does it take?!!!! I'm dreading it.
Anyone done it recently?

You could start with a major clear out?
Box the christmas tree and sort the airing cupboard sort of thing.
Have a big sort out of the shed and toy boxes.
So that when you do get your date you are half way there and if it does fall through you dont feel as though you have wasted time and effort.

Get the removsal men to pack. It is amazing how quickly they do it, it doesn't cost a huge amount more and you are fully covered for breakages if they have packed. Good luck with the move.
