Curtains too small

DS bedrrom is pink but now we have been in our new house for 6 weeks-ish I am keen to paint it & do it up for him. I have seen some curtains in the sale that I love love love but they are too small in the width. My friend suggested I buy too pairs & joing them so there is a seam running up the middle but won't this look odd? Anyone done this & were you happy with the results? Ta

depends on how small but you could always double up with a roller blind behind to block out the light.

We've done this with our front room curtains.

Because they're gathered and therefore fold and stuff, how curtains do, you can't really see the fold.

I didn't iron the fold flat, so it naturally folds in at that point, iyswim. So looks fine.

Thanks - I had thought about getting blackout blinds but DH is dead set against it as he says lined curtains will keep the room warmer.
DH is now also dead set against sewing two pairs together up the middle. Ok off to have a tantrum {angry}

Why don't you get the two pairs, but get a local curtain maker to adapt them for you, s/he will be able to do it so it doesn't show.

FWIW curtains for wide windows nearly always have a join in them anyway, as most fabrics only come in 1.5m width.

Buying two pairs is the best solution. You dont need to sew them together. Just gather them up as normal and if you want them to close/open in one go then just put a stitch between them at the top where the tape is.

The added bonus is that you can rotate them to cut down on sun damage and fading on the sides.

If they are ready-mades,and patterned, try to pick 2 pairs that are a close match of where the pattern starts, iykwim.

What sort of top will they have?

Are they gathered or tab top?
