Granite worktops V solid surface

Does any-body have granite worktops or Bushboard solid surface worktops? Anybody care to share their likes/dislikes about either????

We are just about to have a new kitchen fitted but am having a major wobble about the worktop. We are having modern cream gloss units as seen herewww.pws.co.uk/ranges/range.asp?id=5&kid=7&kitchen=Avant%20Beige and had decided on Bushboard solid surface worktop in cinammon (bottom left), www.bushboard.co.uk/gallery.asp?range=encore&v=. My dh has now said he doesn't like this and wants the caramel sparkle (top row second from right). I am really not sure about it, it just doesn't feel like me iyswim and I have been looking at alternatives. We don't want laminate and had said we wouldn't spend any more on granite. However, I have been on-line and found a supplier who could supply and fit granite for less than what we would pay for the solid surface as seen here www.mistermarble.co.uk/portfolio.html

So, two questions really, what are opinions on granite, Love it or Loathe it, and what do you think would go best with cream gloss units, mid brown caramel sparkle or black sparkly granite?

Many thanks

I have a wooden worktop and love it. It was half the price of the granite I was looking at. And tbh you could spend even less than this as I got one of the more expensive ones - walnut! Look at my profile pics - mine is high gloss white.

We got it from this place Good service, product and price for wooden worktops.

Thank you Cece, I would love wood as I think it would look the best, but dh not keen on having wood around the sink area and the kitchen is too small to take two different work surfaces. I have looked at your pics before and think your kitchen looks pefect!

Thanks for the reply though - feeling stressed as have to make a decision very soon!

I think the caramel sparkle is gross, but I like your original choice. We have hand built off white shaker units, with maple worktops, but have granite around the sink unit. We have a plain black granite (ie not sparkly) and I love it, I can't find any faults with it.

We have wood aroound our sink. Not had a problem with it but I suppose we have a drainer with the sink.
