have a new extension kitchen/diner...is fab! i'm so pleased with it, but it needs pictures or something...

have 2 large walls to dress in the dining room end....

kitchen is white painted units, wooden floor, white painted walls, and red/white gingham blind and red and white curtains covering 3 m wide bifold doors....oh, unvarnished pine battered table and chairs...
light fittings are aluminium/steel. as are fridge and cooker (well. in colour anyway!)

am very consious it mustn't look like a country cottage iykwim. i like shaker/retro/funky/different rather than modern and sort of "trendy" iykwim.

any advice/links/suggestions please?

collect loads of different wooden frames, charity shops, ikea etc, paint them all a slate grey or black, and cover a wall in frames pictures, black and white photos, kids drawings, anything

Big stick on dots in primary colours.

Or wall stickers like the ones here

I love the bird cage ones and the ones of people jumping around in the bright colours.

On our big wall we have a huge pinboard, some stickers and a huge blackboard.

Bonsoir · 29/12/2009 18:19

We have a big map of the world on the kitchen wall, at DD height.

JaneiteQuiteRight · 29/12/2009 18:20

Optician's chart.

Film posters.

Framed pics of plays you've seen, or album covers or books.

I would like an orangutan picture.

TheFallenMadonna · 29/12/2009 18:24

Oh big child-level map is good. We have one in our hallway. Well three actually. We like maps

Bonsoir · 29/12/2009 18:26

Our map has recently replaced a Hello Kitty alphabet poster that I grew desperate about DD outgrew

brimfull · 29/12/2009 18:27
