Repainting and fixing outside plaster on a victorian house - how much?

Thinking of putting an offer in on a victorian house. The outside does not look in good condition. It needs repainting definately. There is also damage to the plsterwork around the window frames where youc an see it has been filled in in places, but not well. The window ledges also need work from what I can see (they do not look wooden - maybe plaster?).

We will of course have a full structural survey if we go ahead, but i was just wondernig about a ball park figure for this sort of thing. Any ideas?

Repainting the outside of our house, including having plasterwork by the windows sorted out over etc, cost a couple of grand earlier this year.

£2,600 in South London for a Victorian semi.

2k in Brighton this year

£2K in Norwich this year (cash) but we had already spent £1K on parts of it (large semi Victorian house).

Stripping cenment render and re-rendering in lime is £150 / m2 - probably isn't what you need for your house, but might be.

DaisymooSteiner · 12/12/2009 23:05

We paid £1800 for a fairly large 4 bed house to be completely re-rendered (2 full coats on the whole house) and painted (2 coats plus bargeboards/fascias)

AwesomeWellies, do have the details of the plasterers you used? Daisymoo, are you in or near London?

MortaIWombat · 14/12/2009 18:55

vonnyh, it was RPW Painting Specialists Ltd (0208 302 4555 or [email protected]), but it was as part of £30k's worth of restoration worth overall, so there may be an element of bulk discount!

Thanks, Awesome!

You're welcome - but please don't poach them before they've finished up for us (mid January...)

MortaIWombat · 15/12/2009 16:53

Oh, and say it's the Forest Hill job on the South Circular that recommended them, please - maybe they'll knock a fiver off our quote!
