Have a look at the thread entitled 'support group for those desperate to buy a house' there are lots of buyers out there - some in rented accom desperate to buy ! However lots of those buyers sold at the bottom of the market earlier this year and won't consider anything over priced.

Where are you based? I've been trying to buy a house for a few months and the market is just crazy - every property that comes on where I'm looking has one block day of about 20 viewings, gets about 7 offers and always goes for over the asking price. We're chain free, cash buyers and have still lost out on 3 properties! If you're selling in North London let me know!!

Thanks for the replies. I have read that thread and it's given me some hope!

We're in West Suffolk with a 4 bed detached (good schools too!). Had valuations of 325K, 325K, 290K and 285-290K so are going for 285K. I don't think it is overpriced but we won't know until we put it on the market I suppose. I would have valued it at 320K when the market peaked. I think the agents who valued it at 325 were way off for today's market. Not sure what the thinking behind their valuations was.

yes, i want to buy, I have been waiting well over a year... Cambridge city, though.

goldenpeach - you'll get more for your money in Suffolk!

I can imagine the market in Cambridge still moves quite fast.
