Never known stress like it - bloody banks....

We are finally nearing completion after one purchase falling through at last minute and now living with parents and the stresses that that involves...

Well today I was transferring money to the solicitor for the purchase - it has been sitting in an Abbey internet account.

Well to cut a long story short Abbey had a technical issue which meant I couldn't access the account on line, then they refused to action the payment over the telephone because of security issues and advised that I'd have to go to a branch.

Well thats a 25 mile round trip - but did it, then the branch initially refused to make the payment because it was an internet account without counter service - but it was their fault I couldn't do it on internet!!!

Seriously stressed at this point - as visions of it all falling apart aagain...

Then after totally throwing my rattle out they did it - but tried to make out that they were doing me a big favour by doing it... It's my money ffs...

Rant over, moral of the story is Abbey are completely shite!

Well I could have told you Abbey are Shite!

Glad you got it sorted out.

Glad you got it sorted. I bank with Abbey for my business and I'm not all that impressed with them either as with it being an online account you don't seem to be able to do anything in branch or on the phone.

I wont bore you but I have had a long list of problems with the service provided by Abbey basically involving not being able to access my own money - and once this is all sorted out they will not have a penny of my money for a moment longer.

Me too, DB. I'd be here all morning if I listed the numerous ways in which Abbey have made my life hell over the past few months, mainly in regard to accessing our own funds. But also losing several thousand pounds which they were supposed to transfer to another European bank for my daughter's school fees, they took nearly two months to get it back with no apology or compensation. They even had the nerve to try to keep the £25 transfer fee and the money lost in the conversion rate. It's their attitude which infuriates me the most - their customer service is appalling, they just don't care. I hate them, and as soon as I get enough time to sort it all out I'm going to transfer all our accounts to another bank.

Anyway, glad to hear you managed to get them to sort it out for you this time.
