roughly how much does a conservatory cost?

We desperately need more space downstairs and I think a small conservatory might just help. Currently have a small open plan living / dining room and the dc's toys get everywhere, plus the fact they charge straight in from the garden into the living area with dirty shoes . I know they can be cold in winter and hot in summer but it will at least keep the garden dirt away from the living room and give us somewhere for the dc's to play.

It would only need to be 3m x 3m. Might consider blinds, even though they are £££££. Garden is south facing too so maybe it wouldn't be too bad on sunny winter days.

Any advice appreciated. TIA

Ours was 4x5 meters. One of the walls, bordering to our neighbour was brick, with just a row of low windows above eye level. It had a reflective roof, so it was almost like the conservatory was wearing sunglasses. Therefore, it did not get too hot in the summer, though it was northfacing. We had sliding doors to a lovely decked area in the garden. Best thing we ever did. It was chilly in winter. We used a fan heater, and had a nice thick wool rug from Ikea. It helped. Looking back, we should have added underfloor heating!

Just came across this topic through a google search! Was looking for online prices but I think the best site I've come across (have used in past also) is conservatory online prices it literally provides you with an exact price and you can pick your own style etc.

I know this thread is old but I agree with jemart, depends on want you want and where/who you buy from. For example, a much simpler style is going to cost less.

Hope this helps any of you who came across this thread in google like I did! Good old mumsnet :-)

I was looking through this article from a while ago as its got a few useful links. Well here is another, its useful because it gives examples of finished projects and there overall costings which many sites that I have looked at don't give.

Check it out at the link below:

I also found the website above useful if you want to gain some ideas about a generic construction
