Decorating/packing question

I am away for Christmas & a friend is decorating my hall stairs & landing while I am away. I have Christmas Eve off.

Do I pack gradually over the next fortnight so that we have boxes everywhere or do I do it all on Christmas Eve alongside packing to go away?

I can't make up my mind between gradual calm mess for weeks or mad get it done quickly in a day?

What should I do?

I'd take the calm gradual approach, but then I prefer not to have to pull an all night packing session if I can avoid it as it takes too long to get a routine back.

Tricky isn't it - I have nowhere to put the stuff so it will be in the lounge/bedroom for weeks - - I hate boxes of stuff

Then I have to consider the whole packing to go away as well
