Been living in a flat for 6 months. Two nights after moving in the ceiling in the living room started leaking.

We had to call every dingle day for 4 months before they would fix the roof, by then we had 4 seperate leaks in our living room. We also had to call environmental health before anything would get done. We then get an abusive call from the freeholders of the building where they told us we were no longer allowed to contact them.

During those 4 months we also discovered that the toilet leaked, that the cistern wasn't attached to the wall, and that there was a leak from somewhere around the boiler that had damaged our stairwell ceiling enough that it was crumbling onto the ground.

We also discovered that our bedroom window wouldn't shut.

And that the skylight wouldn't shut.

Then we discovered, once the skylight and the window and the roof were eventually fixed, that the skylight leaked.

And now the handle to the bedroom door has fallen off (it was never on well, the screws holding it on were twice the length they needed to be and extruded) and one of the living room window's handles have fallen off. On closer inspection the window's handle was actually attached with glue, and where it's so damn cold the glue has gone brittle and lost it's hold.

We're taking bets on what goes next. Anyone want to join in the fun? Or offer advice?

Sounds terrible - you poor thing! I moved into a flat like this once - absolutely nothing worked and landlady wouldn't take me seriously for months. Have you got a working heating system? Maybe that will be next to go!!

Seriously - move out at the first available opportunity and don't give them any more of your precious money...

We do have a working system though with the windows stuck open, we may as well just be throwing our money out of said window.

We are hoping to hand over deposit money on a new place whis weekend, we just have to pray for a loan from our parents in order to move out
