Lincolnshire is rather vast and there is a huge difference between say Grantham and Skegness. I'm afraid you need to be more specific.

What type of school floats your boat and for what age? Do you want to live on flat lands, hills or in between? Do you want town life (think country town) or rural living? How rural do you want? If you are thinking of a village do you what one with amenities in it or happy with driving to local shops? How close to a mainline train station or dual carriage way do you want to be?

Will you be looking for a job too?

Primary or secondary?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 02/12/2009 11:39

It does take about 2 hours to drive from one end of Lincolnshire to another so some vague idea of location would be helpful.

sleaford is excellent for schools and very affordable, a little dul BUT close to Lincoln/Peterborough/Nottingham
I live here and my eldest attends an excellent grammar and dd goes to a village primary
Whereabouts in Lincolnshire will be be based?

stamford pricey though, whats house budget roughly that will dictate a lot

Grantham and Sleaford have good schools. I believe Bourne does as well.

Gainsborough and Horncastle both have Grammar schools.

Lincoln has a very good secondary/comp called LSST which is better than the Grammars, but has an odd admissions system. It is NOT a case of who lives closest gets in to it. I know someone who lived in the next street who didn't get in.

The comp at Welton which is about 8 miles north of Lincoln has a good reputation and good results.

I believe there is a Gramamr at Caistor so a bit further to the north.

If you lived just over the border in Nottinghamshire but the Lincs side of River Trent so villages like Harby, South Clifton then you would be in the catchment for Tuxford Comp which is also meant to be very good.

I don't know anything about schools in Skeg, Louth, Boston areas.
