Just looked around our new house- 1st time, 4 months. Weird!

Had our offer accepted July 7th, completed TODAY. It was the weirdest thing actually walking INTO the property. To be honest I was sort of putting it off, scared I'd be disappointed!

As it is, it's fine. The proportions are different to what I remember but nothing drastic; but the whole place needs repainting!

I did occur to me earlier today that in SOME (pedantic) ways, you actually agree a sum of money based on a property of a certain age. IF the vendors fanny about for MONTHS (and I have heard of this process taking a year!) you are actually paying for an older place than you agreed to buy, aren't you, one having had x months longer wear and tear upon it.

No matter, 'tis finally done. Now we have 10 days in which to actually MOVE over there!

Congratulations

I think places look soo much more faded and in need of paint when emptied anyway - I know our house looked shockingly shabby when we moved out, whereas I thought it looked reasonably cosy and bright when all the furniture was in!

Enjoy

We were on similar timescales, but haven't even exchanged yet. . Congratulations. I bet it is just an anticlimax feeling after such a long wait.

I remember kind of getting that after our wedding. Like a sort of void after all the stress..

We looked at our house on September 1st and actually managed to move in on May 7th. The move took 8 weeks once we had a buyer for ours who didn't wuss out so I told people it was very quick or very drawn out depending on where you were standing!
I just couldn't bear to come and look at the house again and then lose it. We had a very good look that first time, the location etc was perfect and the house itself new enough still to be under gurantee so we didn't need to look. We had another visit after exchange - 3 days before moving, I could start to believe it would actually be ours by then.

Ampere, snap (almost). Got the keys today, made offer early July.

Went over this afternoon to the empty new house and it just felt odd....

Good luck. We've got tons to do on ours.
