Completing on sale of our flat next week - most bizarre experience/visitor today....

We have exchanged on the sale of our flat a couple of weeks ago. We complete next week. The purchasers are from Pakistan and are buying it with a brother who is part financing it. The brother had not even seen it before exchange, so last week came to see it with our estate agent giving me only 30 minutes notice they were coming - not ideal, but ok.

Today my doorbell rings at 10am and a woman is standing there (someone I don't know). She says she is the cousing of our buyer and could she look around. I was really taken aback, but after three years of trying to sell, I didn't want to antagonise our buyers so I said ok. I showed her around, was polite, etc. I asked her if she was going to live here (as I had been told it was a family with young kids who would be) and she said she would be "coming and going".

Anyway, she left and I headed out with the kids and swung by my estate agent to ask them about her. They were also quite suprised, said they had not been contacted by anyone and did not know anything about her. They obvioulsy then emailed our buyer who emailed back to say that he has certainly not asked anyone to come around, that he did not know who it could be, and could they please ask me not to admit anyone else to the flat without an agent present.

Sooooo....I feel like an idiot for having let her in and totally annoyed at the gall of the woman (I am guessing she is a friend of a friend of the buuyers who was just curious).

Yes, I bet it was a nosey cousin or the like but all the same! I would have let them in, as well, in good faith.

That sounds odd.

Is everything still there?

How bizarre! Is there a shortage of flats like yours in your area? Cause sometimes people are thinking of trying to gazump but the agent isn't allowed to show anyone round when the sale has been agreed, so they try other ways of getting to see the place, iyswim.

If you've already exchanged though it seems a bit late!
