£200 to fit a bit of carpet!

I've just been given a quote for fitting some carpet up our bog standard straight staircase and on the small bit of landing up top. We have all the materials; all of which are new; so should be straight forward.

The quote was £200, which I think is extortian. Can anyone advise me what they've paid for similar?

I fitted it myself last time, so I can't comment on the quote, but I can say it takes alot longer to fit than a room (of any dimension).t takes me about 1-2 hours to do a room, it took about 6 hours to do the stairs and landing! I If you're not happy with the price get a few more quotes in.

stairs always cost more to fit.

We've just paid £100 for ours. Ours is a bit tricky as they are stone steps so £200 for standard staircase seems excessive.
