Carpet marks from furniture

Is there anyway to get rid of marks that heavy furniture leave on carpets? We are planning on having the carpets steamed cleaned in the new house the day before we move in, will that do the job?

I think steam will take away the marks. I once read you can put an ice cube on the mark and that works.
