mould!

We've just recently moved to an old victorian house with a v badly designed kitchen hugely lacking in cupboard space so in my infinate wisdom I decided to transform the understairs cupboard into a pantry...
It's painted and has shelves on all of the walls and is now full of food stuffs eg flour, tins, jars, sugar etc etc (no fresh veg or anything just dry goods)
BUT every time I go in there I fine something else covered in mould is it damp? why is there mould growing on things? how do I stop it??

Yes, it sounds like damp. Try putting a wee gel dehumidifier in the cupboard.

It'd have to be damp. Is it on the walls particularly in corners? You MAY have to 'get someone in' to find out the source of it.

Our last renter had 3 dimensional mould growing in corners behind furniture... And smelled like an old church when we came back from holidays..

We also just moved into old Victorian mid terrace... All downstairs was damp-proved about 10 years ago with 20 years guarantee (should still work I assume), but we have mould smell coming from kitchen units under the sink. I was thinking to get electric dehumidifier... Will tell later if it worked (if there is any gel dehumidifier maybe I should get that one?)

What is it with mould this week? This is the third thread I've been on that's discussing it. According to others on here electric dehumidifiers are the way to go.
