What is a good colour for dark basement kitchen walls?

We are having a white kitchen put in with wooden worktops. The floor is wood.
What colours would be warm, but help the room feel open? I can't remember if bluey/grey tones are good or bad in English light. We like neutrals/greys but I suspect they will just look too cold.

Pale yellow looks nice with both wood and white.
Magnolia?
Dove grey?
More white?

Pale yellow, but keep everything as light as poss. I made mistake of putting slate and dark blue kitchen in a basement.

I used a colour which I think is Bleached Lichen 3 from Dulux in a north facing living room and it looks great - hard to describe but it's a sort if warm grey

Or a pale sage green?
