hello, sorry sounds rather random. the block of flats we own a flat in is considering gating the development, but the one sticking point appears to be, how is the rubbish collected? how do the council get to the bin store/wherever it is you put your rubbish?

any advice gratefully received!!!

In ours the gates are openable by buzzer between 8.00am and 10.00am so the rubbish can be collected.

That is, buzzer button on the side of the gate as opposed to the beeper buzzer if you know what I mean

Same here, we have ours coming round to our different bin stores about 7am every Monday morning. Not the most welcoming wake up call!

you mean buzzer button on the outside (i.e street/road? and it is the council who collect, not a private contractor?

The buzzer is on the side of the gate between the vehicle gates and the pedestrian gate. It is very discreet. We have had no undesireables pitching up between 8.00 and 10.00 to get into the development. You can set the time to whatever you prefer though, so if you knew collection was going to be 7.30 they could be openable by the buzzer between 7.00 and 8.00 for example.

Your other alternative is to contact the council and see what the possibilities are of giving the collection department a buzzer. We have given out postman a buzzer and main door key so he can get in to deliver mail rather than hope someone is home to buzz him in when he arrives.
