Need Exchange! Am turning into Slob of the Year!

Have a blessed day off work today - the first since the boys are back at school. Normally I'm a dervish of activity: obviously cleaning, washing, ironing etc but also craft projects, painting, sewing and socialising!...

However, I'm sitting around doing nothing because I am in the void before exchanging! Allegedly our vendors want to complete on Sept 24th, 20 days hence. WE have signed the contract, don't know if THEY have but they are apparently coming to the end of a 2 week holiday and our solicitor is apparently awaiting a duplicate FENSA certificate for the replacement double glazing, that's all.

Thing is, I cannot motivate myself to do anything! There is no point in packing (I should add we've only been in this renter 3 months so we did The Big Clearout before moving here) and I don't want the unsettling thing about living amongst cardboard boxes for longer than is necessary; all my craft kit is still packed away in boxes so I can't just whip something out and do something, I am loathe to get any of it out or storage as I will just have to pack it up again very soon (hopefully) and I'm being a bit slack on the cleaning on the basis I will have to blitz the house SOMETIME in the next 3-4 weeks- hopefully (again)!

I need this uncertainty to end! It's actually having a bit of a negative psychological effect on me!

Why not get some choccie and watch some proerty shows on TV for inspiration?

We completing on our house sale on Monday - I should be packing - but can't be bothered.

How long did you have between exchange and completion? I know I can pack up in 2-3 solid days (not dismantling furniture, though!) and, renting of course, we do have overlap.

I just want some action!

Is there anyway you can ask for just a week between exchange and completion?

Personnally I would be out of the house today at the swimming pool or B&Q looking at wallpaper for my new house but then I get excited about choosing wallpaper and paint.

We had about 5 weeks between exchange and completion but that's a whole different story. Theoretically you can exchange and complete on the same day. I think solicitors charge a bit more if the gap is less than 2 weeks.
