Can you keep the carcasses and put new doors on/paint the old ones?

ebay sometimes have kitchens which have been removed from houses or show kitchens. they go for next to nothing and are quite often from high end suppliers.

otherwise, ikea, homebase, howdens, b and q?

Does under a grand include fitting? A kitchen that cheap us likely to look a bit ropey imo. I'd be tempted to replace doors and worktops only if you want to keep the same layout.

I have a Wickes takeaway kitchen in my utility - not sure it would be under a grand though, all depends on how many cupbaords you need really! But the cupboards are fine for the money. Think mine was about £600. It is the plinths, side panels and pelmets that bump the price up...

Ikea will be very cheap. And good quality too, from what I have heard.
