www.londondoor.co.uk/subcategory.php?id=12

not as sprauncy, in fact just the door, not the surround. these london door folks seem to be made to measure, and i am neither
a)in london nor
b)rich

I have been searching the internet, but this is the first time i've even seen a picture of what i want (which is what our original front door would have looked like, i believe, with maybe less stained glass, it is the style of door i'm interested in more than the decorativeness). have you seen such a thing anywhere?

i was considering these people:
www.bdjoineryltd.co.uk/ but although their doors are nice, they are not exactly what i want.

can you help?

Salvo web, or the architectural antiques section of Ebay. I spend a lot of time on Ebay hunting down things for our house, and it's usually much cheaper than Salvo, but things are less well labelled.

BUT it's going to be difficult to get one that's exactly the right size, to be honest. You may need to go for one that's slightly bigger and get someone to cut it down.

It may actually be easier and not too expensive to find a local joiner and commission him to make the door you want - we're having a door made at the moment, and I've got the antique door handle off Ebay.

p.s. i looked at BD Joinery too, but the problem is that their doors are never going to be exactly what you want.

Maybe check out somewhere like this?

You are likely to need to get it made to measure, unless you get really lucky. It's not just the size you need to get exact, but also the depth. We faced that challenge when replacing our door.
