Or is it just shite

(from someone who's just bought taps without the flick between shower and taps thingie wondering if situation can be salvaged)

yes if the showerhead is over the plug end

plug's in the middle.....

I'm wondering if I'm brave enough to buy a separate 'divertor' switch, and go back to the more natural thing of having a low 'hair washing' shower that can be hooked up high if needed.

We're kinda bath people....

hmm, my parents have bath with plug in the middle and shower at one end, and it's fine, but you are aware of the slope iyswim. If yo uhave good pressure then you don't have to stand so close to the end

That sounds reassuring... unless you parents are also prone to end-of-the-day-to-catch-the-delivery-slot impulse buying....
