Would I regret rebelling against 'flecks' in my worktop?

I'd never get a solid coloured carpet because of the 'shows up any dirt' issue.

... but I think solid colour looks nicer on a laminate worktop than the ubiquitous 'I can't believe it's not granite'.

Would I regret it?

I think you can afford one impractical thing in a kitchen - i.e. something that only looks good when it's spotless - so if the worktop is your impractical thing, why not go for it?
