Fitted wardrobes

We currently have fitted wardrobes in our bedroom, in the loosest possible term. They are a complete botch job - four large mirrored panels which are supposed to slide along, two behind and two in front IYSWIM, but invariably don't and result in a load of pushing, shoving and swearing on my part.

We are going to invest in two fitted wardrobes, one either side of the chimney breast (currently, the mirrored panels go in front of the bloody chimney breast , but I don't really know where to start. I was quoted around £2k for them a couple of years back (we are in South Wales), what should I look for, any ideas as to keeping the feeling of space you get with one mirrored wall, what should I do with doors etc etc?

Any useful tips much appreciated.

We're in South Wales too and Sigma 3 put ours in about 4 years ago - they weren't cheap but have made the most of the space that we had availble.

Ours go across the wall with the chimney breat on too.

We have big corner wardrobes in each corner with mirrored doors, then a mixture of shelving and double hanging inbetween them.

On the wall that comes towards the door we have 2 sets a drawers - one 5 high and one 4 high. We also have matching bedside tables.

It cost £3,800 but honestly was worth it to maximise the storage in a difficult space

There are other companies who make them, depends whereabouts you live.

The other option I guess would be to have someone purpose build them for you - often not as expensive as it sounds if you can find someone good.
