Skylights - is there any maintenance required?

Should they be resealed every few years around edges to prevent leaks?
If so, do they need attention both inside and outside?
What product(s) should be used?
Can I do it myself, or is it an odd job man sort of project? (Note: my skylights are not the sort that open)

Is there anything else they require?

well other than cleaning, not sure what they would need outside any other type of window. your manufacturers should be able to tell you. sorry not to be more help.

Hmm - you may (hopefully) be correct.

I was wondering if there was some sort of seal/mastic (sp?) around the edges that might need repair/replacing periodically due to deterioration resulting from prolonged exposure to severe heat/cold/rain, etc.

Anyone else have knowledge to share?
