Would this house work for a family of 4?

Hi

We went to view a townhouse today, it was very nice but we would prefer more living space. Here are the room dimensions:

Ground Floor (L shaped family room comprising of living room/dining room & kitchen)
Living/Dining 18?5? x 15?6?
Kitchen 12?6? x 7?11?
WC
2 Storage Cupboards (one tiny & the other one large)

First Floor
Bedroom 1 15?6? x 11?5? & ensuite
Bedroom 2 15?6? x 10?0? & ensuite
Airing cupboard

Second Floor
Bedroom 3 15?6? x 10?8?
Bedroom 4 14?3? x 7?8?
Study 9?2 x 6?10?
Family bathroom (great size comprising of bath & seperate shower cubicle)

2 Parking Spaces

What we are thinking is that we could use either bedroom 2 or 3 as either an adult tv room or kids playroom. Bedrooms 3 & 4 for kids rooms (bedroom 4 had a single bed, wardrobe & chest of drawers in it & had ample space for a desk & chair).

What do you think? Is this house (chiefly the living accommodation) big enough for a me, DH & 2 children?

Well, you have to live there. Only you know whether the space will work for you and all your stuff!

Personaly, I'd want a seperate dining room or a kitchen diner. I have a living/dining room, it's titchy though so I feel cramped having a table and chairs in the living room along with everything else.

janeite, we do at the moment!! Currently living in a TINY 2 bedroom cottage!

Is you living/dining room a similar size to this one,FBGB? The house is a cracking price for us & we are wondering if we could put up with the compromises.

My house is smaller than that and there are 6 of us!
I think if you made one of the bedrooms into a 'kids room' it really takes the pressure off the living space (we're building an extension for that reason).

Sounds great to me. We live in a 2 bed flat though. The study would become a darkroom/photographic studio . Kids could have bedrooms 3 & 4, we would have bed 1 and bed 2 can be a guest room for my family and friends down in England to visit.

Size? I've no idea It's big enough for a sofa, 4 book cases, a table and chairs, a wicker chair and a TV, that's it really. Umm, 18m by 18m??

Why wouldn't a 4 bed house be big enough for 4 people?

We have a 3 bed townhouse with smaller rooms than that for 6/7 of us (and the children- bar one- are adult sized)

Cripes, calm down. Only asking for a bit of advice on whether there is enough living accommodation. If you have nothing constructive to say then best not say anything.

i think the kitchen might be a bit small for four of you? if like us you live in the kitchen because everyone congregates there (admittedly largely for warmth - draughty old house...)
is it big enough to eat in? (not v good with measurements). imho kitchen size matters more than bedrooms with dc if they are young. and you might want to keep the fourth bedroom as a spare room not playroom if you have family etc to stay regularly...

There is no room for a table in the kitchen - it is open plan to the living/dining room so the table would be in there. The more we think about it the less we feel it will work for us. Plus the garden is quite small too.
