Do these people actually want to sell their flat?????

We have seen a flat ona website and asked for a viewing. It came on the market last week, but we were not allowed to see it at the weekend as they were having a party. I have been trying daily to get an appointment and was finally offered Thursday afternoon - the only time this week I could not do! (which I did tell the agent before). I have said I will see it any other time, but they have young kids so it is hard apparantly

I have three young kids and vacated my flat with 5 minutes notice whenever my agent want to show it!

We are serious buyers and made this point to the agent - but they said they are only following their clients' instrutction. So do they actually want to sell or what???

Are they tenants perhaps?

As far as I know, it is just an ordinary family - no split, no tenants. Just a view that it should all be done on their terms when it is convenient. A somewhat odd view in this market.

I got a similar feeing from the vendors of a house that we offered on. Several weeks after they accepted our offer and after we had spent over £1000 on survey and solicitor fees they withdrew the house from the market.

The EA had told me the vendors were "very committed" to the sale. Dont ignore your gut instinct, and certainly dont think they are doing you a favour by allowing you to view.

Yes, I agree about gut instinct. It's weird though - why put it on the market at all?

Maybe the estate agent has signed them up before they were really ready for viewings? When we put our last house on the market we asked a few agents round for valuations but we were still waiting for a new carpet for one room and a rooflight to be replaced and a few bits and bobs. The agents all tried to get us to sign on the dotted line there and then,and the agency we chose got us to sign up but agreed that we would have an 'open house' in a fortnights time..but they put our details on the web and started ringing us asking to bring viewers round (albeit ones with no chain)..we even got people knocking on the door wanting to view since the agents weren't taking bookings. We sold it to a chain-free buyer that we let look round a few days before the planned open house.
So perhaps the answer is, yes they want to sell their flat but maybe not just yet?

Maybe they were not expecting someone to want to view it so quickly and its a shithole which needs tidying/reparing majorly and they have not done it yet? So are stalling?
