Can you make a normal microwave an integrated one?

Just wondering if you can convert a normal microwave into an integrated one by adding a trim kit? I suppose it would depend on where the vents were situated?

Am shocled at the difference in price when looking at integrated microwaves, so wondered if possible to achieve the look cheaper.

Thanks

You can buy surrounds to make them fit, iyswim, but not sure how many sizes they come in. We bought one when we bought an integrated microwave that then didn't fit the Ikea kitchen slot - it was quite a faff fitting it. Tbh, I would buy integated (checking size of slot first ) or put it inside largish cupboard with power point at back if you really don't like look of it.

Thanks lala.

Am interested in which microwave didn't fit in your Ikea cabinet, as we are getting an Ikea kitchen, so it will need to fit into that. Is there a specific size you need for Ikea units?

Our kitchen is bespoke & the kitchen fitter made a cupboard with trim around to fit our normal microwave in. Looks great

That's useful to know. Thanks FTL.

It was a stainless steel finish Baumatic.

Thanks lala. I think we've decided to just go for a normal microwave set into a custom cupboard instead. SO much cheaper!!
