Putting letters through letterboxes

Hi
I have read on here that some of you have put letters through letterboxes of houses you were interested in to see if the owner was considering selling. Can I ask what you put in those letters as I am considering doing likewise. Thank you!

We did this recently - we didn't do a letter as such just a flyer on brightly coloured paper saying Wanted - 3/4 bed house with a little bit of detail. We didn't give any price indications as we weren't sure exactly how big the houses we were posting to were. We did 90 houses in our preferred village and had 2 calls. One was unfortunately too expensive for us and the other we have just agreed a purchase price on this weekend so it does seem to have worked for us - so far anyway! Good luck with it.

Ok, would you do a flyer like this?

WANTED

  • 3/4 bedroom house
  • 2 reception rooms
  • off-street parking
  • good size garden

We have sold stc & our buyers have no chain.

If you are considering selling we would appreciate a call.

Any tips?

Thanks

Yes this is very similar to what we did. We also added a little bit saying something along the lines of "If you'd like sell without paying estate agents commission" as we thought that may be an incentive. It's also worth noting that if you sell privately you don't need a HIP. Hope this helps.

Thanks Mins, much appreciated. Better crack on....

Mins - excited to hear you've found a house! Is it in Histon or Waterbeach in the end?

GM - we found a house in Histon - or Impington - not sure where when one ends and the other begins? Anyway just hoping all goes well and we are able to move by end of July. Whereabouts are you?

Oh, great news! Well done!

We're in one of the small villages over to the west of Cambridge now, but my DH still works in Histon on the Vision Park.
