Anyone got bamboo flooring?

We're having a new bathroom and I've been thinking about having bamboo flooring rather than tiles which always seem so damn cold in the middle of the night!

Anyone got bamboo flooring? Would you have it again?

I definitely wouldn't put any kind of wood or laminate in an area that could get wet.

Learnt this lesson and now have a £2000 insurance claim as our washing machine pipe burst and completely wrecked the floor. It happened over a period of time too so it took a couple of months for us to notice as the water gradually was absorbed into the wood, it's now a swollen mess, Grrr. It's been nothing but hassle.

At least with tiles, water will sit on top and you can clean it up right away.

We have bamboo in both our bathrooms, one almost new and one about five years old, and both are gorgeous - thoroughly recommend it! Bamboo isn't a wood, its a grass, and works very well in wet areas - we have no staining, even by the bath, even with two young dds who like to splash.

Its warm underfoot, sustainable, reasonably priced, and pretty (we have a goldenish colour, very sunny and natural looking).

Wish I could do the whole house in the stuff!

Hi. A friend put bamboo flooring in her ensuite 18months ago. It looks great, is warm underfoot and so far stain free!

Oooh, interesting, thanks for the replies. Elibean, we may actually do almost the whole house in it. We're renovating the entire house and had planned to put in engineered oak downstairs, but may use bamboo instead. I think we're going to do the bathroom and see how it looks and if we like it we'll do the whole house!

Come back and post if you do, please, because we're about to move and when we eventually find something to buy, I hope to do the same

Enjoy!

We have bamboo in the bathrom and it is fabulous.
Easy to keep clean and warm underfoot.

We are gradually 'bambooing' our house. We have had all the bedrooms done and when we can affird it will have the living room and dining room done.
