Living in LEWES...any thoughts?

anyone live/lived in Lewes...we have a 7 year old son, so need a local state school...any thoughts gratefully received.

... flood plain... .... old folk... rubbish parking... high opinion of itself.... chi chi cafes and restaurants....

No, but nearby.

I do kind of like it - have eaten many a weekend breakfast in Bills or the place up the high street with the good cakes. Super charity shops.

It's kind of vaguely pretentious though, in the way of places where there is money sloshing about that people have made a long time ago elsewhere.

Agree totally with kif - except for the "quite liking it" part!! Don't live there but MIL does and we visit quite often for weekends.

Whenever I ventured into any lewes shops (apart, obviously from the big chains) I got the strong impression it's a local town for local people - not friendly at all (and I wasn't even with mil at the time so the shopkeepers impression of me couldn't have been tainted by associaioj iykwim!!)
