Tiling quote, how much do you think?

I'm getting a tiny ensuite shower romm tiled. Big white ones on most of the walls with big grey/metallic ones in the shower cubicle and matching ones on the floor. The room is about as small as it possibly could be.

How much do reckon would be reasonable? We're happy to pull off the old tiles ourselves and would provide grout and adhesive and trims if the tiler didn't.

Live in the north east.

I'm assuming you are providing the tiles yourself

LaDiDaDi · 30/04/2009 20:42

Yes, bought the tiles.

We recently had a shower room tiled in the loft conversion. The tiler first put down a base on the floor, and then tiled all the walls and floor. Think labor only was about £400.00 and I got the tiles myself. Price included grout and adhesive. Took him about 3 days...

Thanks.

The only guy who has turned up after ringing 3 initially quoted 400 and has now "been back to look at the job again" and has posted me a written quote for 780. Dp thinks he is taking the p and I wonder if he has changed his mind about wanting the job.

Yup - your DP is right and such a typical builder thing; they don't want the job -- quote way over the top.

Unless you have circular walls or something really difficult!

Do you live in a lighthouse?

Raggydoll · 30/04/2009 20:53

my dp is a tiler (midlands) he would quote 360 for aprox 3 days work.

LaDiDaDi · 30/04/2009 20:55

No, not a lighthouse .

Thanks raggy.

I'll have to try to find another one, I've got a number from a friend but he might be too far from me but will give him a try tomorrow.
