Wallpapering over 'strong' paint colours?

I am about to wallpaper our spare room which is currently painted with a very distinctive Disney mural and two dark shocking pink walls with glittery bits in it (yes, 'tis gorgeous!).

Can I get away with papering straight on top of the paint or is it likely to show through and therefore need lining beforehand? The paper is quite thick but in pale/neutral colours.

I think it would be worth putting a coat of good quality white emulsion over it first just to be on the safe side - it will take a couple of hours and save you a lot of money if the mural did show through the wallpaper.

Thank you - good thinking. Hadn't thought of that. I've got some spare paint and the room is pretty small anyway so won't take long.
