dh and i havve decided to have our large bedrrom split into two for ds1 and ds2 to have a room each. we are moving into their room.
we need to do several things and i cannot for the life of me work out what to do when and in what order!

1 take apart boys beds/wardrobe etc

2 take apart our bed

3 have stud wall and door fitting built in lg bedroom

4 have new carpet laid in our new room

5 have fitted wardrobe installed in our new room

6 have the lighing sorted in boys' bedrooms `~(ie move central light and have one put either side of new wall

7 oh and remove carpet in boys old room

8 re-painting/wallpapering of our new room

i also cant work out whos going to sleep where whilst everythings being done- the wall should only take a couple of days but will then need plastering/decorating (we do have blow up beds which could be used if need be and dh and i could sleep on lounge floor- but what to do with boys??

please please help me out as i cant get my head around it all

Flooring always goes down last that's all I know, good luck

You go on floor in lounge, remove your bed etc to garage, get wall built in boys rooms, decorated, lghts done etc. Move boys and all their stuff. Decorate get and carpet your room, move in, get wardrobes built (if you have had enough by then otherwise get wardrobes done first).

This means least disruption for the boys although you will be on the floor for quite a while so you may want to invest in a decent blow up mattress and an auto pump if you need to take it all down each day!

ah thank you. that would make sense.
have i forgotten any vitally important bit??! now i have to work out who to book in to do what jobs when and in what order.

I can't see anything missing, you should (I htink) get the electrics done first so any damage can be tidied by the plasterers when they skim the wall.

SO, Electrics, Builders, Plasterers, decorators (for the boys), carpeters (for the boys), wardrobe builders, decorators (for you), carpeters (for you).

I think

I would suggest this order:

1 take apart our bed (you will have to sleep on floor somewhere else for a few days)

2 have stud wall and door fitting built in lg bedroom.

3 have the lighing sorted in boys' bedrooms `~(ie move central light and have one put either side of new wall

4 Not on your list, but presumably these rooms need decorating

5 take apart boys beds/wardrobe etc (and move boys into new rooms leaving their old room vacant now)

6 remove carpet in boys old room

7 have fitted wardrobe installed in our new room

8 re-painting/wallpapering of our new room

9 have new carpet laid in our new room

I would swap rooms now then at least everything will be in the right rooms, then in theory you should be able to do the work with just moving stuff around and you can all still have somewhere to sleep.
