Secure storage question

Has anyone used one of those secure storage companies to store all your belongings until you find a place? If so how much did it cost?

I'm coming back to UK and will be living at my parents' place at first so if I manage to find affordable transport back of all or most of our stuff will I be able to afford to keep it in storage?

they are quite expensive TBH. the price depends on size though so varies hugely, how much stuff are you talking about? a few boxes or a whole house worth of furniture plus gardern stuff plus sports stuff?

If you want heated (if you're storing electrical equipment etc) they are even more

admylin · 13/04/2009 17:34

No there will be no electical stuff and won't need heated as I'm counting on only needing it for a few months. Maybe 30 boxes and some pieces of furniture but could just buy new if it's too expensive. For the 30 boxes and 8 or 9 large suitcases, how much do you reckon?

I recently stored some stuff, half a "normal" garage worth or 50 sq foot is about £18 per week.

Boxes are good because you can stack them.

The big ones here (In Da Norf) are Big Yellow and The Store Room. I have used both, prefer the store room.

The Store Room also do a service where they bring a crate to your house, you load your stuff in it and then they take it back to be stored.

Have a look on their website, very helpful.

i pay 100 pm for centralish london enough for a small one bed flat with access

SalBySea · 14/04/2009 18:27

I paid £60 pm for a relatively small one, about 10 large boxes, a bit of sports equipment, and some small pieces of furniture (not a whole flat's worth)

That's not in london and not heated so you are prob looking at more than that as mine was full with a little less than you've described.

Thanks for the info everyone. It's always good to compare and where I'll be moving I have found one for 15 pounds per week which is really affordable. Thank goodness I'm not heading to London, seems everything is so expensive there.
