Am mussing forgive me, DH has been offered an inetrview which would involve moving to my favorite place in the UK but where property prices are mental.
So going against all my own advice I'd be tempted to rent the tiniest property I could there, live Monday to Friday with literally school uniforms and work clothes, then we'd come back at the weekends for something the DD's love doing and spend the weekends at a our country stack lol (ie they could have all their toys and tat here).
To do this I really would need to keep the rent right down and we'd be looking at maybe a 2/3 bed tiny property, has anybody done this ? Did you go off your dial ?

Could he work from home one day per week? Thursday night commute not so bad

Sorrento · 09/04/2009 18:28

I shall be suggesting that to him, he used to do the commute 2.5 hours each way every day but he was a much younger man and we had less children plus he's been off work for 6 months and I have been spoilt

I think if you are thinking of renting where goldenpeach is trying to buy (and where I would love to live too, sigh), then £1000 pcm could get you a really quite decent size house without all the commuting madness. Not as sunny as Spain, admittedly, but a lot nicer than Liverpool .

We're not quite in Liverpool, ferry across the mersey (too the posh bit) lol
You're right it could, such a dilemma because every sensible bone in my body knows you shouldn't move out of one house until you've sold the first one, renting it out I am not prepared to do, have had an experience similar to twinsets and I think it delays the envitable and we simply cannot reduce our asking price and buy another house so can't sell it either.
As I do believe we have another 3 years to run with all the fun and games at least, we need either massive inflation or some other miracle, otherwise DH is better off unemployed
